Community Interns

The community interns project was an exciting opportunity open to any person aged 19+ who was not in paid work and who wants to add to their future life through learning and experience. Although aimed at people from Bromsgrove, Redditch, or Wyre Forest, anyone was eligible as long as they were living in Worcestershire,

including.

J  Women

J  People with learning difficulties

J  People with physical difficulties

J  Over 50’s

J  Lone Parents

J  Black and Minority Ethnic

here were some of their aims:

#  Achieve measured improvement in the confidence and skills of individual participants

#  Increase capacity in local Voluntary and Community Organisations and Disabled Persons User Led organisations

#  Produce beneficiaries who are job/assessed training ready at appropriate levels and who can continue to contribute

and participate confidently in civil society.

What they did?

A personal plan was discussed and agreed. Depending on what was agreed we put together a diary of activity, a programme – experiences and learning, which was both enjoyable, challenging and fulfilling, Over 10 sessions where they had personal responsibility to develop your their programme and to record their journey in whatever way is suited them. This could be a written log book, photographs, recorded messages, or even a mixture of these
